The new year is here and the City of Miramar has a lot in store for 2026.

Keeping it light for the first couple weeks, the city restarts its free classes that paused during the holidays and other groups resume their offerings, too.

Here are some of the events happening in Miramar from Tuesday, Jan. 6, through Thursday, Jan. 8:

Tuesday

Zumba on the Plaza — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

January classes with Gabriela Jurado start Jan. 6 and continue for the rest of the month on Tuesdays in Town Center Plaza. This outdoor class draws a crowd and features fun Zumba dance moves designed to help you break a sweat. Bring water and get ready to move.

Bridgerton Trivia — 7 p.m.

Celebrate the new season of “Bridgerton” on Netflix at World of Beer in Miramar. “Test your knowledge of gossip, romance, and Regency-era drama while enjoying great food and drinks,” the Facebook event page says.

Wednesday

Wednesday Night Chess — 7 to 10 p.m.

The Miramar Chess Club is meeting at its usual spot, the Starbucks on Red Road, for three hours of strategy and community. If you’re new or a seasoned player, bring your own board and get ready to meet new people.

Thursday

Zumba Hosted by Mayor Wayne M. Messam — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A lively dance party will be held at the Sunset Lakes Community Center. Head indoors for another Zumba class with Gabriela Jurado. As always, this class is designed for all dance levels and is free.

Haitian Professional & Business Mixer — 6 to 9 p.m.

The association of Miramar Haitian-American Residents and Business Owners (MHARBO) is hosting an in-person networking and mixer event to boost local business and connect residents to each other. It will take place at the Tribeca Restaurant and Lounge and feature a special appearance by Mayor Wayne M. Messam and the launching of the Miramar Haitian Business Census Campaign. Registration is free on Eventbrite.
