Rebel Salute music festival to make its US debut in Miramar. Here are details
Rebel Salute will make its U.S. debut this month after the original event was postponed in the fall because of severe weather.
The show is scheduled for 2 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, at Miramar Regional Park, and tickets range from $50 to $90.
Tickets purchased for the 2025 canceled show will be honored at this event.
The festival’s mission is the preservation of reggae, and the lineup includes Tony Rebel, Maxi Priest, Chalice, L.U.S.T., Mikey Spice, Louie Culture, Mykal Rose and Rebel Clan.
Rebel Salute has been held for over 30 years. It is often listed as one of the best music festivals in Jamaica and usually is held in Plantation Cove, St. Ann.
Tony Rebel created Rebel Salute, and his music is considered some of the best of roots reggae, gaining popularity since 1993.
Priest is known for his hits “Close to You” and “Wild World.” He has three Grammy nominations for best reggae album and performs his 10 albums across the world.
Rebel Salute aims to create a “wholesome” festival with no meat, no drugs, no alcohol and no weapons allowed.
In addition to the live music, there will be a food village and art village.
In 2016, Rebel Salute introduced a unique Herb Curb.
This is an adults-only area that features medical professionals, herb practitioners and educators who explore the sacramental, medicinal and economic aspects of marijuana.
Rastafari culture is at the center of this area and is important to the festival overall.
“The Rebel Salute Herb Curb represents a commitment to the preservation of Rastafari and culture and its importance to the development of the global cannabis industry,” the website reads.
There will be designated areas in the Herb Curb for smoking, but Rebel Salute specifies that festival goers can only partake in what is legal.
Cannabis is legal for medical use in Florida, not recreational use. There are also cannabis and hemp products that are not considered schedule 1 drugs that are sold legally in Florida.
While Rebel Salute is a family event, you must be at least 18 years old to enter the Herb Curb.
