Monday
Retire Right: You Only Retire Once — 6:30 p.m.
The Federal Benefits Education Association wants to help you prepare for retirement. This session at the Miramar Branch Library provides education on social security benefits and will cover the key steps to retirement, including estate planning.
Set the Pace — 6:45 p.m.
The Miramar Run Club welcomes all to this Set the Pace run, where walking is also accepted. If you’re new to running, join the group and find your pace with others. The running starts at 7 p.m. at Town Center and lasts 30 minutes.
Tuesday
Rhythms & Rhymes Storytime — 10:30 to 11 a.m.
This storytime gathering is meant to help children prepare for preschool. The Miramar Branch Library hosts the group’s activities, games and reading time, directed at children’s social and learning skills.
Mat Pilates — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Haus of Align instructs pilates classes that focus on strength and intentional movements. This class takes place at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center for $24. Get a full-body work out in a supportive environment.
Weekly Live Trivia Nights at World of Beer — 7 p.m.
Challenge Entertainment is offering official games at World of Beer’s Miramar location. Register your team and compete every Tuesday for the top spot and prizes.
Wednesday
Wednesday Night Chess — 7 to 10 p.m.
Join the Miramar Chess Club for a night of strategy at the Starbucks on Red Road. This club welcomes players of all levels as long as they bring their own chess set.
Wine Down Wednesday: Miramar Business Social — 7 p.m.
Network with entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals from Miramar and surrounding cities at Sushi Sake. The entrance fee is $7 on Eventbrite and includes a “Protect your Peace” briefing from LegalShield, the event’s sponsor.
Thursday
Community Outreach Meeting — 6 to 8 p.m.
Miramar wants you to help shape the city’s strategic plan. Complete a short survey at the event at the Alexandra P. Davis Multi-Service Complex and be entered to win an iPad, iPhone or gift cards. Your input will help dictate the city’s future priorities; contribute your ideas and you may learn more about the strategic plan process.
Breastfeeding Class at Memorial Hospital Miramar — 6 to 8:30 p.m.
This workshop is hosted by a board-certified lactation consultant at Memorial Hospital Miramar. New mothers and infants will benefit most from the teaching, but dads, grandparents and significant others are encouraged to attend.
Pilates In The Park — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Haus of Align is back with its weekly pilates class in Miramar Regional Park. Get a full body workout in for all levels, even those new to pilates movements. Instructors aim to be more intentional and focus on control and breathing. Tickets are $24.
Zumba at Sunset Lakes Community Center — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Mayor Wayne M. Messam is hosting a free Zumba class at the Sunset Lakes Community Center. Each Thursday, join instructor Gabriela Jurado for fun dance moves and cardio. Be sure to fill out the release form on the city’s website first.
Open Mic Night — 8 to 11:30 p.m.
This restaurant is seeking singers, musicians, dancers, actors and other performers for an open mic night. Head to Miramar Seafood and Steak for live music, food and drinks, or to give your own performance.
