Broward-based Jamaican restaurant expands into Pembroke Pines. What’s on menu?
A Lauderhill-based Caribbean restaurant has made its way south to Pembroke Pines.
Peppa Seed Jamaican Restaurant celebrated the grand opening of its second location — 8170 Pines Blvd. — on Monday, March 23, team members told the Pembroke Pines News.
The eatery sits in the Richway at Pembroke Pines, a plaza anchored by Broward Meat and Fish, sandwiched between the Sunset Smoke shop and an Edible Arrangements store.
“Watching everything come together ... is a beautiful thing!” reads a March 23 Instagram post announcing the opening. “From vision to reality. From empty space to purpose. All on God’s timing.”
The restaurant serves authentic, traditional Jamaican cuisine much like its flagship Lauderhill restaurant, located at 4589 N. University Drive.
Menu offerings include dishes such as ackee and saltfish, goat and chicken curries, oxtail, jerk pork and chicken, rice and peas as well as rortating dessert options made by an in-house pastry chef.
“Enjoy a true taste of the island in a warm, inviting atmosphere,” the eatery’s website homepage says. “Join us for a vibrant culinary experience.”
The restaurant also offers catering services for parties exceeding 30 people.
One of Peppa Seed’s standout qualities is the work it took to arrive at the restaurant’s finished storefront.
Per owner Toni-Ann Ferguson, the brand’s Pembroke Pines location was 10 years in the making.
“From March 2016 to March 2026 — a full circle moment. Through every delay, every obstacle, every lesson … (God) was still working,” Ferguson wrote in a March 24 Instagram post celebrating the opening.
In a late-February post, the owner shared the early stages of the restaurant’s renovation, showing a gutted locale stripped of the kitchen, lobby and Caribbean-themed decor it now sports.
Peppa Seed is hiring for its Lauderhill and Pembroke Pines locations, the eatery told the Pembroke Pines News, and is looking for a “team player who’s open-minded, dedicated and great at following directions,” per a March 12 hiring call on Instagram.
The restuarant is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. as well as Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
