As October gets underway, check out our roundup of weekday events happening in Miramar from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 to keep you busy until the weekend.

Monday

Miramar Run Club — Events all week, location varies

The Miramar Run Club hosts runs nearly every day of the week depending whether you’re interested in getting in some speed work or a long run.

They’re starting off Monday night at 6:45 with a “set the pace run” powered by Lululemon, followed by a “spicy” track workout on Tuesday at the Ansin Sports Complex. Wednesday is geared toward kids, then organizers are moving into a tempo run day, cross training and a long run before finishing off Sunday evening with an easy run. Check out their social media or RunAdic for a full list of times and locations.

The group asks participants to RSVP with RunAdic.

Tuesday

Doing Business in South Broward Panel — 8 a.m. at the Miramar Cultural Center

Mayor Wayne M. Messam is hosting a panel discussion with Miramar’s Economic Development and Housing Department and the South Florida Business Journal. The event starts with breakfast and networking before editor Brian Bandell with the Journal moderates a panel featuring local business leaders.

Zumba on the Plaza — 6:30 p.m. at Miramar Town Center Plaza

Gabriela Jurado of @GabyZumbaFit on Instagram hosts a free weekly Zumba class at the Plaza.

Wednesday

City Commission Meeting — 7 p.m. in City Hall’s Commission Chamber

The City Commission holds its meetings on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. outside of recess periods. Agenda items include contracts for holiday lights, police motorcycles and cybersecurity services.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s District Service — 11 a.m. at the Miramar Branch Library

“The Office of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will be available to answer questions, obtain information and help resolve problems with a federal agency such as Social Security, Medicare, IRS, VA Benefits, Immigration, Passports, HUD and more,” according to the library’s event page.

Miramar Chess Club — 7 p.m. at Starbucks at 2850 Red Road

Join the Miramar Chess Club for weekly Wednesday play at Starbucks for chess players of all levels of experience. Organizers request attendees bring a chess set if they can.

Thursday

Zumba Hosted by Mayor Wayne M. Messam — 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Lakes Community Center

The city holds free weekly Zumba classes indoors on Thursdays. Gabriela Jurado is the instructor for this class as well.

Friday

Low-Impact Aerobics Class — 9 a.m. at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center

“Designed for all fitness levels, these classes offer a fun and supportive environment to help you stay active while improving your overall health. Enjoy engaging workouts that are easy on the joints and perfect for anyone looking to boost their fitness in a friendly atmosphere,” according to the listing.
