What to do in Miramar this week: Table tennis, community meetings, mobile clinic
Miramar has several community events , many of them free, for the week starting Monday, Oct. 6.

Monday
Get your voting questions answered — Oct. 6-7
Meet representatives from the Broward Supervisor of Elections office at Miramar City Hall to get help with voter registration, voter information and other election-related questions.
Tuesday
Sunset Lakes Fall Youth Table Tennis Clinic — Oct. 7-28
Miramar residents and non- residents ages 10-14 can sign up for the Sunset Lakes Fall Youth Table Tennis Clinic by Oct. 7. Instructors at the Sunset Lakes Community Center will be teaching students table tennis skills for recreational play and for future leagues. Rackets and balls are provided; the course costs $60 for Miramar residents and $74 for non-residents.
Zumba on the Plaza — 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Free Zumba classes have returned to the Miramar Town Center Plaza. Join Gabriela Jurado for an outdoor dance experience.
Wednesday
Mobile medical clinic — 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Memorial Healthcare System and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital are providing mobile medical clinics where adults and children can get care with no insurance needed. The buses travel to different South Florida locations throughout the month, and they will stop at the City of Miramar Multi-Service Complex on Oct. 8. View the calendar and locations here.
Community conversations celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month — 6:30-9 p.m.
Commissioner Carson ‘Eddy’ Edwards is hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration to honor five members of the Hispanic community, including Silver Lakes Elementary Assistant Principal Lourdes Solares-Cruz. Plus, learn about the programs and services available to residents and local businesses.
Thursday
Community meeting on historic Miramar drainage improvements projects Phase V — 6-7:30 p.m.
Access this community engagement meeting via Webex to learn more about the drainage improvement project that is in its design phase. The project is aimed at upgrading existing drainage in Historic Miramar to prevent flooding.
Zumba at the Sunset Lakes Community Center — 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Join Mayor Wayne M. Messam for a free indoor Zumba class, featuring instructor Gabriela Jurado, every Thursday at the Sunset Lakes Community Center.
