Three Miramar schools earn state recognition with ‘Schools of Excellence’ honor
The Florida Department of Education has awarded three schools in Miramar with the “Schools of Excellence” honor.
Announced Oct. 8 by Broward County Public Schools, this recognition goes to the top performing schools in the state.
Schools qualify by ranking in the 80th percentile or higher within their grade level group (elementary, middle, high and combination) for two of the last three academic years based on the state’s grade calculation.
Here are the three Miramar schools that received the award:
For the 2024-25 school year, 46 Broward schools received this designation.
Schools can retain this designation for up to three years, according to the Florida Department of Education. These schools will receive increased school autonomy and priority in funding from the state, among other exemptions outlined in the law. The “Schools of Excellence” program was created in 2017.
In the announcement, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn said, “We are immensely proud of our students, teachers, administrators and staff whose hard work and commitment paved the way for this School of Excellence recognition.”
