Miramar’s third annual Turkey Trot plans to bring health and wellness to Thanksgiving Day.

Hosted by Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne, the 5K race on Thursday, Nov. 27, is open to runners and walkers of all levels.

The 5K will take place at Miramar Regional Park and the race begins at 7 a.m., with the parking lot closing at 6:30 a.m., according to the signup site.

“Let’s burn off some calories before the big feast,” the city said in an Instagram post.

Turkey trots are common across the country as another way to celebrate the holiday, and the first in Miramar was in 2023.

This year, the race will also be the site of a holiday toy drive. The city is accepting new, unwrapped toys or gift cards to give to families in need.

The race fee is $25 and there were approximately 225 spots left as of Nov. 12, according to the signup site.
