Martin Luther King Jr. Day is on Monday, Jan. 19, this year, and if you have the day off, there’s a parade happening in Miramar.

The civil rights leader’s birthday is Jan. 15, and his holiday is celebrated on the third Monday of January each year. It is meant to honor Dr. King’s work and promote civil rights and public service.

At Lakeshore Park, Miramar will host a celebration and a parade around Sherman Circle, which creates a loop to and from the park.

The parade is scheduled to begin a 11 a.m. on Jan. 19 and ends at Lakeshore Park at noon, where the celebration will last until 2 p.m. with food and music.

To get a good view, it’s best to line up around Sherman Circle and bring chairs or blankets for the park festivities.

As with previous years, this celebration is free, and guests can RSVP at MLKMiramar2026.eventbrite.com.
