19-year-old killed in shooting during altercation at Miramar gas station, cops say
A 19-year-old man was killed and two others — including a bystander — were wounded in a shooting at a Miramar gas station involving a Mercedes-Benz, police said.
The shooting occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Sunoco gas station at 7520 Pembroke Road, according to Miramar police.
The investigation is ongoing, but surveillance video shows a man approached the passengers of the Mercedes-Benz parked at a pump. Words were apparently exchanged between the man and two people inside the vehicle, Miami Herald news partner CBS News reported.
The incident appears to have involved multiple individuals, and detectives are actively investigating to determine who opened fire, said police spokeswoman Janice McIntosh.
Christian Corea, 19, believed to be one of the men inside the Mercedes-Benz. He was killed during the shooting, police said.
Two others were struck by gunfire, including the bystander, whose injuries were not considered life-threatening. His name has not been released as of Jan. 7.
The other individual arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound and remains hospitalized. Police believe he was at the scene.
Police are searching for a suspect who approached the Mercedes-Benz, then fled the scene.
The killing marks Miramar’s first fatal shooting of 2026.
The shooting is the second high-profile crime in Miramar this week. On Monday, a Miramar man was pistol-whipped during a violent home-invasion robbery in which his French bulldog was briefly taken.
A woman was arrested in that case, while three others remain at large.
