Miramar High earns national Magnet School of Excellence honors
Miramar High School has been recognized as a Magnet School of Excellence for its Aviation and International Baccalaureate programs as Broward County Public Schools earned 37 national merit awards from Magnet Schools of America.
Each year, MSA merit awards are given to the top magnet schools in the U.S.
Of the 37 honors won by Broward County schools, one was a Top Magnet Schools of Excellence award, 17 were Magnet Schools of Excellence awards and 19 were Magnet Schools of Distinction awards.
MSA awards are given to schools that “demonstrate commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful desegregation and diversity efforts, and consistent delivery of high quality educational services,” according to the nonprofit’s website.
There are two categories of awards the nonprofit gives:
- Magnet School of Excellence, given to a select group of schools that have demonstrated the highest level of excellence in all facets of the application
- Magnet School of Distinction Awards, the second level of award
The 37 Broward schools will be formally recognized at the MSA national conference April 14-17 in San Diego.
