Miramar Vice Mayor part of influential national committee. How city can benefit
Good news for Miramar: Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne has been appointed to the National League of Cities’ 2026 Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee Federal Advocacy Committee, a prestigious national body that positions Miramar at the forefront of transportation and infrastructure policy.
Elected to a one-year term, Colbourne will help guide NLC’s federal advocacy agenda, and shape policy priorities on transportation programs, road safety, transit, rail, bridges and other critical infrastructure needs.
Colbourne’s appointment was announced Friday, Jan. 30, by NLC President Kevin Kramer, a Councilmember in Louisville, Kentucky.
“As a member of the NLC Transportation and Infrastructure Committee member, my advocacy is for policies such as continued federal infrastructure partnerships that provide municipalities with flexible, direct access to transportation and funding for safety and roadway improvement,” she told the Miramar News in an email.
In her role, Colbourne will work with leaders from cities across the nation, helping shape federal policy positions and advocate on behalf of municipalities, including Miramar, before Congress.
“The National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committees are the voice of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages in Washington,” Kramer said. “(Vice Mayor Colbourne) ... will be helping strengthen the partnership between local and federal leaders.”
