Miramar offering $2,000 scholarship for high school seniors. Here’s how to apply
The window for Miramar’s UNCF scholarship just ended, but another opportunity has opened.
The city is offering a $2,000 scholarship to local students through the Miramar Gives Back program. It opened Monday, Feb. 2, and will close Monday, March 2.
This scholarship is for students from public, private and home schooling who are “planning their next chapter,” the city wrote in an Instagram post.
Like many scholarships, the student must have volunteer hours completed to be eligible — but those hours must be completed within Miramar.
Here are the requirements for the Miramar Gives Back Scholarship Program:
- A 500-word essay describing academic goals, community involvement and how the scholarship would help the student’s educational journey
- Must be a Miramar resident
- Must be a graduating high school student
- Minimum 2.75 GPA, verified by transcript
- Demonstrated financial need, verified by official documentation from a school counselor or principal
- Minimum 50 volunteer hours completed within the community
For the application, make sure to attach a letter of recommendation, and have an official transcript ready to attach.
