While Miami is the spring break hotspot in March, Miramar is kicking off spring break in its own way.

Commissioner Avril Cherasard will host the Joy and Happiness Fest from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at Shirley Branca Park.

This is a family-friendly event with activities that cater to all ages.

“This event is close to my heart because it’s all about giving our Miramar community exactly what we all need: A moment to pause, come together as families and neighbors, and simply feel good,” Cherasard said in an Instagram post.

“And that’s exactly what this festival delivers. From the moment you arrive, live performances and vibrant energy set the tone for an afternoon of music, laughter and connection.”

The signature event will be the Joy Parade. The whole family welcome, including pets.

Expect food and treats, live performances and crafts for kids. Plus, a comedy performance with crowd interaction.

One feature for teens is a gaming truck, which usually features popular consoles and games playable on a series of TVs inside a large truck.

Admission is free, but registration is encouraged.
