South Florida innovators to share stories of success and resilience in Miramar
National TED talks go viral all the time, but they have a local arm that brings the impactful speeches to your neighborhood.
TEDxMiramar will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at the Miramar Cultural Center, featuring 13 speakers. Their topics will range from family ties to financial advice.
TEDxMiramar Executive Director CeCe Espeut told the Miramar News that all the speakers are from South Florida.
“That’s number one. Number two is, do they have an idea that’s worth spreading,” Espeut said.
The applicants are reviewed by a selection committee.
One of the speakers, Dr. Diane Moore-Eubanks, will share her personal experience of failure and how she came back from it.
Her daughter, Sudan Eubanks, spoke at the 2025 TedxMiramar event.
“My talk is about after you’ve become successful and you still fail … losing everything after the Wall Street crash,” Moore-Eubanks told the Miramar News.
Moore-Eubanks, leader of Royal Brand by Global Financial Doctor, reported to President Bill Clinton’s White House as assistant general counsel for the Department of the Navy.
“You would think everything would be perfect,” she said. “So I think it’s great because it allows others to know that even after tragedy happens … you can still bounce back.”
According to Jamaicans.com, website founder Xavier Murphy will also speak at TEDxMiramar. His talk is titled “Family Secrets Don’t Stay in the Past” and will include the story of how he found his long-lost uncle in China.
Murphy is also the co-founder and coordinator of the annual Anancy Festival in South Florida.
“We’ve all seen those TED and TEDx talks on YouTube, but we need people in the audience. So we would love for people to come out and be a part of our community,” Espeut said.
Tickets for TEDxMiramar start at $54 for adults and $25 for youth under 18.
Espeut stressed the importance of arriving early, as the event is being recorded.
According to Jamaicans.com, other speakers include Julie Jacques, Benny Salas, Dr. Ralph Hughes, Tayten Reed, Dr. Anthony Richiez, Treavor Metzler and Zurich Ronert, Byron Faudie, Dr. Andrea McKie and Lona Fink.
