Memorial Hospital Miramar freestanding ER to open this year. Here’s the timeline
Memorial Healthcare System broke ground on a freestanding emergency department in April 2025, and since then the building has made significant progress.
A representative from the hospital told the Miramar News on March 17 that it should be ready to open by June.
Sitting at Red Road and Miramar Parkway, the new emergency room will span 16,800 square feet.
“Nearly 70% of ER visits nationwide are for non-life-threatening conditions that still require urgent medical attention,” Randy Katz, district medical director of Emergency Services at Memorial Healthcare System, said in a news release.
“Having a freestanding ED helps us manage these cases more efficiently, ensuring that our five adult EDs and three pediatric EDs across the system can stay focused on the most critical, life-threatening emergencies.”
Planned for the emergency department are 13 private examination rooms, a lab, pediatric treatment area and a trauma and resuscitation room.
Memorial is also redeveloping its freestanding ER in Pembroke Pines. Together with the Miramar freestanding emergency department, Memorial expects to serve 32,850 patients annually.
