Miramar police are warning residents about a spike in graffiti vandalism in parts of the city and are asking the public to help report it.

This week, the Miramar Police Department released a public service announcement on Instagram and Facebook, warning offenders they can be arrested and encouraging residents to report vandalism.

The department recently noticed the increase in graffiti and decided to alert the public, Miramar Police spokeswoman Janice McIntosh told the Miramar News.

“Graffiti is a crime. If you see something, say something,” the PSA says.

“Vandalism and graffiti are arrestable offenses. If you see someone vandalizing property, call Miramar Police and help keep our community clean and safe.”

Graffiti vandalism can range from spray-painted tags on walls and fences to markings on public infrastructure. Police say the damage often leaves property owners responsible for cleanup costs.

The department is urging residents who witness vandalism to report it immediately so officers can respond.
