Olympic medalists, new relays highlight Miramar Invitational. Here are details

Miramar’s premier sporting event is coming up on Saturday, April 4.

The Miramar Invitational, which attracts professional athletes from around the world compete in track events, will be held at the Ansin Sports Complex.

The meet is known for attracting some of the biggest names in the sport, including Olympic medalists.

It’s scheduled to start at 11 a.m., with the final event, the 4x100-meter mixed relay, beginning at 2:53 p.m.

This is the first time the event will include relays, meet director Tony Campbell told City Commissioner Carson “Eddy” Edwards in an interview on the show “Commission Corner.”

Campbell said the Miramar Invitational is “probably going to be our most exciting” event yet, as two teams from Jamaica will compete against two teams from the U.S. in the relay. There will also be a men’s and women’s 4x100-meter relay.

“I’ve been very fortunate that track and field has been my life dream, and I’ve been involved in the sport for more than 35 years,” Campbell told Edwards.

That level of experience helped him invite big names such as Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, an Olympic gold medalist in the 4x100 meter relay in 2020, and Tina and Tia Clayton, Jamaican twin sisters on the rise.

Tina Clayton competed in the 100-meter dash for Jamaica at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Other runners scheduled to compete include Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson, a silver medalist in the 100 meters in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, and Ackeem Blake, ranked No. 7 in the world in the men’s 100 meters.
