Pembroke Pines is partnering with a local nonprofit to provide free cellphones to those who served in the United States military.

The city will host a Veteran Phone Giveaway from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. The event is open to all veterans across South Florida.

The Florida Veterans Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans through education and guidance on accessing assistance programs, is teaming with Pembroke Pines for the giveaway. The city prides itself on being a “Veteran Friendly City.”

To qualify, veterans must live in Florida or be a transitioning service member, have an active gmail account and provide proof of service.

In addition to a cellphone, the program also provides veterans with two years of unlimited talk, text and data with AT&T Fusion 5G. No contracts or credit card information are required.

For more information, contact the Broward Veterans Coalition at 954-271-4804.
