Miramar to give away free food and diapers at 3 events this week. What to know
With gas prices hovering around $4 a gallon, some families are looking for financial assistance. If you need resources, Miramar is offering help this week.
On Wednesday, April 22, Miramar will give out free food and diapers to those in need, while supplies last.
The city will have another resource day on Saturday, April 25, with a walk-up food distribution.
Here are the three events happening this week:
Wednesday
Walk-Up Food Distribution — Noon to 2 p.m.
Bring a cart and an umbrella to this walk-up food giveaway. No registration is required, which is different from the other two events. Just walk up to the Alexandra P. Davis Multi-Service Complex to receive groceries while supplies last.
Diaper Pantry — 6 to 7 p.m.
It’s important to register in advance for this giveaway, also at the Alexandra P. Davis Multi-Service Complex. Whether you need adult diapers or baby diapers, The Greater FTL Diaper Bank, in partnership with Memorial Healthcare Systems, will provide them while supplies last. Make sure to show your printed or digital QR code. The diaper bank also asks that you be prepared to meet financial eligibility requirements.
Saturday
Community Resource Expo and Walk-Up Food Distribution — 9 a.m. to noon
If you need more than food, the city and Broward County have many resources available. Go table to table at Lakeshore Park to find out which departments can help, or bring something to carry the groceries they will give away. Some departments set to attend are social services, the police department, city clerk and rental/mortgage/gap assistance programs. Register for free on Eventbrite.
