Miramar serves up inaugural pickleball tourney at Lakeshore Park. Here are details
Pickleball players of all skill levels can compete at the inaugural Miramar Kitchen Sync Classic Pickleball Tournament this month.
The tournament, hosted by Vice Mayor Carson “Eddy” Edwards, is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, from 7 a.m. to noon at Lakeshore Park, 8501 Sherman Circle.
Pickleball has exploded in popularity in Miramar and nationwide, with residents requesting the city add more courts at its public parks.
Miramar officials hope the Kitchen Sync Classic will become a signature community event celebrating the sport’s growing local following.
The tournament will feature men’s, women’s and mixed doubles divisions, with participants competing for bragging rights and the opportunity to connect with fellow pickleball players.
So why the “Kitchen Sync” tournament title? The name is a nod to pickleball’s “kitchen” — the non-volley zone near the net where many of the sport’s most-exciting rallies happen — and the teamwork required for doubles partners to stay “in sync” during play.
The tournament is open to players of all levels, from beginners to seasoned competitors.
In addition to tournament play, players and attendees can enjoy music, giveaways, refreshments and snacks throughout the morning.
Registration is $30 per player and advance registration is encouraged. Players can register online at kitchensync.eventbrite.com.
