This week in Miramar: Networking, library writer’s club, fitness, trivia & more
It’s a good week to get involved in Miramar’s happenings.
Writer’s club at the library is back for its first meeting of the month. Also, the city is having a stormwater plan meeting to identify areas that need better drainage — and organizers want your input.
There’s also a free networking opportunity at Sushi Sake where you can meet other professionals.
Here are some events happening in Miramar from Monday, July 6, through Thursday, July 9:
Monday
Writer’s Club — 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This club for adults focuses on reading, writing and sharing the written word. The group meets in the conference room of the Miramar Branch Library on the first and third Monday of each month. Bring something to discuss and get ready to share.
Set the Pace — 6:45 p.m.
Set the Pace is the Miramar Run Club’s free offering every Monday. Whether you want to walk, jog or run, new members are welcome here. The run starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall plaza and lasts about 30 minutes.
Tuesday
Rhythms & Rhymes Storytime! — 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Are your kids ready for preschool? Miramar Branch Library has a program to prep them. Enjoy storytime together and activities that build their social and learning skills.
Mat Pilates — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Haus of Align invites you to the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center for a mat Pilates flow. Instructors will guide you through the intentional moves, which focus on alignment, control and breath. If you’re ready to build your strength purchase a ticket for $24 on Eventbrite. Bring a mat and water.
Weekly Live Trivia Night at World of Beer — 7 p.m.
Gather your team and get ready to compete for prizes at World of Beer every Tuesday. Hosted by Challenge Entertainment, this event requires free registration to participate.
Thursday
Lunch & Leverage: Curated Connections Experience — noon to 1:30 p.m.
This curated networking experience is geared toward professionals, business owners and entrepreneurs. Head to Sushi Sake to connect with others who align with your business and hear short insights that could be applied to your work. Guests purchase their own lunch, and VIP packages are available.
City of Miramar Storm Water Plan Meeting — 6 to 7 p.m.
The City of Miramar is seeking your input. Managing stormwater in some areas is difficult, and the city wants to identify problematic drainage spots. This community meeting will be held at the Alexandra P. Davis Multi Service Complex.
Zumba Thursdays — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Join instructor Gabriela Jurado for a lively Zumba class for free at the Sunset Lakes Community Center. This class is held indoors and features dance moves that help you exercise. Make sure to bring water.
Pilates in the Park — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Bring your mat to Miramar Regional Park to join Haus of Align’s all-levels Pilates flow. Tickets are $24 for instruction on strength-building moves that focus on breath and alignment.
Open Mic Night — 8:30 p.m.
Ready to show off your talent? Miramar Seafood & Steak has an open mic night where it is seeking singers, dancers, actors and performers. Enjoy the food and the show or sign up to get on stage.
