This week in Miramar: City budget presentation, mobility improvements, trivia night

Miramar has a lot to offer this week in events and gatherings.

Trivia is on at World of Beer every Tuesday, and the City Commission is working on the budget and wants to present it to you this Wednesday.

Also, improvements have been made to a block of Miramar Parkway that the city wants you to see.

Here are some of the events happening in Miramar from Monday, July 13, through Thursday, July 16:

Monday

Set the Pace — 6:45 p.m.

The Miramar Run Club invites you to a free run called Set the Pace, where you can walk, jog or run with pacers. The run starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall plaza and is a good place to meet other runners and start your running journey.

Tuesday

Rhythms & Rhymes Storytime! — 10:30 to 11 a.m.

Time to get ready for preschool with the Miramar Branch Library. Little ones who are making this transition may benefit from this event, which features reading and activities to help build social and learning skills. Staff will be there to guide parents and answer questions.

Weekly Live Trivia Night at World of Beer — 7 p.m.

Get your team ready. Trivia night is on at World of Beer every Tuesday. Sign up with Challenge Entertainment to join the National Trivia League and have fun nights of friendly competition and food.

ZUMBA at Town Center Plaza — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Head outdoors to City Hall plaza with Gaby Zumba Fit for a free class. This group is all about dancing and turning the moves into exercise. Don’t forget to bring water.

Mat Pilates — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Meet Haus of Align, your stop for a true mat Pilates flow at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center. Instructors are there to show you the movements focused on strength, alignment and breathing. Tickets are $24, and all you need to bring is a mat and water.

Wednesday

Miramar Bike & Pedestrian Mobility Improvements — 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Join the ribbon cutting for a new bike and pedestrian path. The area of Miramar Parkway between Palm Avenue and Douglas Road has improvements that the city will begin showing at the meeting point: the Adult Day Care Center at 8925 Miramar Parkway.

Community Budget Presentation Meeting — 6 p.m.

The city wants to discuss its proposed budget with residents at the Alexandra P. Davis Multi-Service Complex. The first meeting will take place Wednesday, and the second on Aug. 5. Learn more about what the commission has to present and give your input.

Thursday

Line Dancing — 6 to 8 p.m.

Get your sneakers on the ground for this free line dancing class with Jammin Jamei at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center. Her high-energy instruction will show you dances to popular songs. Get ready to sweat, as the class is two hours long.

Pilates in the Park — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Enjoy a Pilates class outside at Miramar Regional Park. The moves are adapted so that all levels can participate, and all you have to do is bring a mat and water. Slide into intentional movements and learn how to build strength. Tickets are $24 on Eventbrite.

Zumba Thursdays — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Head to the Sunset Lakes Community Center for an evening of dance. These Zumba exercise moves are set to Latin music, mixing dance with fitness. Join for free and make sure to bring water.

Open Mic Night — 8:30 p.m.

Calling all entertainers. It’s your turn to sign up at Miramar Seafood & Steak if you are a singer, dancer, actor, musician or other performer. Head there to show off your skills or enjoy the food and a show.
