What’s happening in Miramar this week? Here are some local classes and outings
Many of Miramar’s events happen every week for the entire month. This week, catch some recurring classes or try something new with one of the events happening at a restaurant or coffee shop.
Here are some of the events happening around the city from Nov. 4 to 6. As a heads up, the Miramar Branch Library is closing for most of November for recarpeting. The last day to visit before the closure is Nov. 1.
Tuesday
Zumba on the Plaza — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Gabriela Jurado returns to Miramar Town Center Plaza each Tuesday this month to instruct this outdoor Zumba dance class. Join the party free of charge.
“Friends” Trivia at World of Beer — 7 p.m.
Test your “Friends” knowledge at World of Beer in Miramar. The restaurant’s series of trivia nights always have a theme, and the beloved TV show is no exception. Compete to win by answering questions about “Friends” characters and episodes.
Wednesday
Commission Meeting — 7 p.m.
The city commission is having its regular commission meeting on Nov. 5. Though the agenda hasn’t been posted yet, they can usually be found on the city’s website. This is where legislation is passed, resolutions are proposed and announcements are made by commissioners, the mayor and vice mayor.
Miramar Chess Club — 7 to 10 p.m.
The Starbucks on Red Road turns from coffee shop to chess club with this standing weekly gathering. Every Wednesday, chess lovers meet for an evening of strategy. Players are encouraged to bring their chess set, no matter their level of experience.
Thursday
Zumba hosted by Mayor Wayne M. Messam — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Gabriela Jurado leads this free class at the Sunset Lakes Community Center. Whether you’re just starting Zumba or you know all the moves, this class is beginner friendly. Classes will take place every Thursday in November.
