Three dancehall icons to perform at Journey to Kingston concert in Miramar
Three major Jamaican artists are coming to Miramar for the Journey to Kingston concert on Saturday, May 30.
Hosted by Commissioner Maxwell Chambers, the show at the Miramar Cultural Center will feature Spragga Benz, Wayne Wonder and Agent Sasco.
These three leaders of dancehall and reggae will showcase Jamaica’s rich culture, with Spragga Benz headlining. Dancehall tracks bring high energy and many of the artists’ songs are beloved by fans in the U.S. and Jamaica.
A limited number of tickets for a meet-and-greet session are available, and the Miramar Cultural Center is also promising surprise guests and collaborators.
Spragga Benz will celebrate his 57th birthday at the concert. His big hits from the 1990s will take the crowd back to a golden age of reggae. “Work Fi This,” “She Nuh Ready Yet,” “We Nuh Like,” “Dolly House” and “Differ Remix,” are some of the most recognizable songs. The artist is also promoting his March single, “Pull.”
Wayne Wonder, best known for his 2003 hit “No Letting Go,” was recently honored with the Dancehall Legend Award by the city at Selecta Showdown, another dancehall event. His recognizable vocals lead tracks such as “Saddest Day,” “I Still Believe” and “Bonafide Love.”
Agent Sasco, also known as Assassin, is known for his contributions to reggae and dancehall with albums “Theory of Reggaetivity” (2016), “Hope River” (2018) and “Sasco vs Assassin” (2020). He has worked with artists such as Chronixx, Stephen Marley and Romain Virgo.
Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $80-$90 and $150 for VIP meet-and-greet before fees.
