Rum N’ Roti Festival, walk for autism and live bands: Miramar this weekend

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, find a free event or ticketed experience here in Miramar. On Saturday, a walk for autism families is taking place, and so is a festival dedicated to Caribbean food and drinks. Plus, a series of free yoga classes offered for all levels of experience.

Here are some of the events happening in Miramar this weekend from April 24-26:

Friday

Friday Follow @ the Rooftop With V — 7 to 8 p.m.

This yoga class hosted by Threetwo Ave happens outdoors on the rooftop of the Epic Residences parking garage. Park in front of the entrance and make your way to a class that welcomes all levels. Note that this is an advanced class with minimal instruction. Bring your own mat and water.

Live Band Friday — 8 to 11:30 p.m.

Join Miramar Seafood and Steak for a night with two live bands: Reaxtion Band and Just In Time Band. In addition to the free performance, the restaurant serves sirloin, snapper, lobster and more.

Saturday

Walk with Miramar for Autism — 7 to 9 a.m.

Register as an individual or as a team on Eventbrite for this awareness, acceptance and inclusion walk at Miramar Regional Park. Participants walk for free for 15 minutes, under a mile, to bring people together and demonstrate support for autism families. This walk is in partnership with Memorial Healthcare System and Reyna Group Homes Foundation.

Stronger Together Autism Awareness Fun Fitness Camp — 8 to 8:45 a.m.

After the Walk with Miramar for Autism, the city will hold a celebration fitness camp at Miramar Regional Park. Powered by Ripped Camp, this bootcamp will feature energetic games and fun workouts.

Community Resource Expo and Walk-Up Food Distribution — 9 a.m. to noon

Find out what resources the city has to offer at this resource expo and food distribution. Going beyond giving out free food, the city will also bring in departments from City Hall and Broward County, including social services, the police department, the city clerk and rental/mortgage/gap assistance programs. Browse the tables at Lakeshore Park to get face-to-face time with someone who can answer questions and provide assistance.

Yoga at MCC Botanical Garden — 10 to 11 a.m.

This free yoga class is hosted every Saturday by Mayor Wayne M. Messam. The Miramar Cultural Center botanical garden is the outdoor setting for this class that welcomes all levels, as long as you bring your own mat. Register for free and fill out the release form on Eventbrite.

Saturday Flow @ The Rooftop With V — 10:30 to 11:30 a.m

Another yoga class by Threetwo Ave is hosted on the Epic Residences garage rooftop. Join for free by parking just before the entrance and making your way up with your own mat, water and a towel. All levels welcome.

Battered Abused Women & Girls Educational Conference: Rising Stars — 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This conference educates men, women, boys and girls on signs of abuse. The Stevens Health and Nutrition Center will host the event at the Alexandra P. Davis Multi-Service Complex, with tickets starting at $35.

Rum N’ Roti Festival — 1 to 10 p.m.

The Miramar Corporate Pavilion at Miramar Regional Park will host the Rum N’ Roti festival, featuring Caribbean food and drinks. Tickets are $13 to enter, and the main dishes will center roti, jerk and rum.

Sunday

Sunday Flow @ The Rooftop With Kiki — 5 to 6 p.m.

This is the third offering from Threetwo Ave when it comes to free yoga classes this weekend. Another all-levels flow welcomes new and experienced participants at the Epic Residences garage rooftop.
