In a city that many Haitians call home, Miramar will celebrate Haitian Flag Day with a party at Shirley Branca Park days before the official holiday on Monday, May 18.

Head to the park from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, to experience the activities and shows planned for Haitian Flag Day Family Fest.

Hosted by Commissioner Avril Cherasard, the event will feature live bands, cultural performances, food vendors and the Haitian patty competition.

“It is so important to celebrate the contributions of the Haitian diaspora to the city and country as a whole,” Cherasard told the Miramar News.

“We will be celerating Miramar residents who have expanded culture and knowledge, not just of Haitian pride but of civic pride as well.”

Miss Cosmo Haiti 2025, Sklouchere Pierre, will make an appearance along with MC Mecca. Zenglen Band and DJ Bankz will perfom, and the TLL Dance Ensemble will showcase its traditional Haitian folk dance.

That night, the Miramar Battle of the Patties will take place with a live blind taste test. Cherasard asked locals to submit their favorite restaurant to be invited to compete.
