A woman says she was injured on a sidewalk near the intersection of Miramar Parkway and Dykes Road and sued the city of Miramar in September 2022.

Over three years later, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, the City of Miramar commission voted to settle with Linda Wilson for $149,500, according to a settlement agreement obtained by the Miramar News.

The city denies all allegations and the settlement does not mean it admits liability, according to the agreement.

The Miramar News reached out to Darryn Silverstein, Wilson’s lawyer, for comment on Oct. 2 and didn’t receive an immediate response.

Before the Oct. 1 public commission meeting, the commissioners held a closed session to pass the settlement resolution and confirm the amount. All four members voted yes, according to the unofficial meeting minutes.

According to the settlement agreement provided by the city, “on or about September 12, 2025, the parties agreed to settle all issues involved with the lawsuit whereby it was alleged that plaintiff was injured in a fall accident on a sidewalk,” on Sept. 11, 2018.

According to documents from the Broward County clerk of courts, Wilson was walking and fell due to a “hazardous, broken, mis-leveled walking surface,” suffering serious injuries and incurring sizable medical bills.

Wilson claimed she suffered from the city’s negligence and damages in excess of $30,000, and demanded compensation of over $100,000 and a trial by jury, according to the lawsuit.

Documents show that by February 2025, the city requested a medical examination for “alleged injuries to plaintiff’s right knee, left hip, left shoulder, left arm (including left elbow and left forearm).” The city later struck this filing. Wilson also provided a list of witnesses that included surgery centers, imaging centers and doctor’s offices.

The settlement releases the city of all claims and allows it to avoid a trial, according to the agreement. However, the agreement notes that this payment does not satisfy all of the damages resulting from the incident.
