Turkey giveaways continue in Miramar as Thanksgiving approaches.

On Thursday, Nov. 20, the city will give out 300 free turkeys in partnership with Sunshine Gasoline Distributors between 9 and 11 a.m. at the Shell station at 2850 S. State Road 7.

The event will be hosted by Miramar Commissioner Maxwell Chambers.

There’s no registration required, and turkeys will be given out to the first 300 families that arrive, according to the city’s Facebook post.

Organizers will give away one turkey per car until they run out.

The City of Miramar has been responding to increased need since the government shutdown that lasted 43 days, causing thousands of government workers to be furloughed and laid off and millions to lose SNAP benefits.

They hosted a turkey giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 15, and designated $150,000 for future food assistance.
