One of Mayor Wayne M. Messam’s biggest events is coming to the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater in December.

The two-day Aviation Expo 2025 will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, for student field trips, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, for the public.

Both days are free and will feature appearances from pilots and air traffic controllers to introduce young people to the aviation industry.

At the 2024 event, representatives from Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens and Wayman College of Aeronautics in Pembroke Pines presented their programs to interested students. Representatives from American Airlines also were in attendance.

Field trips from surrounding schools and homeschool students were able to take part in virtual experiences, play with robotics and talk to aviation professionals about a future in aeronautics.

“What’s really great about this expo is that it’s a hands-on experience for all of our students. They really get an opportunity to not only imagine a career in aviation, but they actually get a chance to rub elbows with pilots, with technicians,” Messam said in a video posted by the City of Miramar.
