WSVN and ABC Miami have officially begun their move to Miramar.

Builders broke ground on the new headquarters for WSVN Channel 7 and ABC Miami Channel 18, with an official ceremony on Friday, Dec. 5.

Representatives from Sunbeam Television Corporation, which owns WSVN, Mayor Wayne M. Messam and city commissioners were in attendance to commemorate the day.

The corporation and builders showcased the first wall going up.

“Beyond excited to co-host this morning’s “wall tilt” at the new @wsvn @abcmiami18 facility going up in Miramar,” 7 News anchor Craig Stevens said in an Instagram post. “Can’t wait to be in our new home in 2027!”

According to WSVN, the construction will take 18 to 24 months.

The Miramar City Commission approved the site plan for the new building at a meeting on Sept. 6, 2023.

This was before Sunbeam Television Corp. announced that ABC would end its affiliation with WPLG Local 10 and start broadcasting in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area as ABC Miami on March 20, 2025.

The building will be home to both WSVN Channel 7 and ABC Miami Channel 18.

The land is part of the Miramar Park of Commerce, a Sunbeam company owned by the Ansin family’s Sunbeam Television Corp., which houses national firms such as Walgreen Co. and Spirit Airlines.
