Before you celebrate your loved ones on Valentine’s Day, show yourself some love at a 5K race.

Commissioner Maxwell Chambers is hosting the New Year, New Me 5K on Saturday, Feb. 14, for those who want to stay active on the holiday.

Join the runners at Miramar Regional Park for the race starting at 7 a.m. Parking will close at 6:30 a.m.

This race is considered a run/walk, so it works for those looking to beat a personal record and others wanting to complete the 5K at their own pace.

Registration is open for $25 but there is an opportunity for free signup. The first 50 residents to email sbraham@miramarfl.gov have a chance at no-cost registration.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear Valentine’s Day colors and the registration site says all ages are welcome.

Participants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes and medals.

It will be a celebration for the non-runners, too. Viewers can enjoy food trucks, games, music and other vendors.
