If you missed your opportunity for free line dancing last year, here’s another chance.

Miramar Commissioner Avril Cherasard hosts Sneakers on the Ground events with themes, music and a line dancing instructor. That instructor, Jammin Jamei, is returning to Miramar for weekly line dancing classes starting Thursday, Jan. 8.

Jammin Jamei will teach line dances to popular songs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center.

Weekly line dancing classes will be held in Miramar starting on Thursday, Jan. 8.

The last Sneakers on the Ground event of 2025 happened in December at the same location, where Cherasard announced that it would be the last class until August 2026.

However, a flyer for weekly line dancing classes appeared in Miramar’s Jan. 6 newsletter.

“Oh what a night. The crowd came ready to hit the moves in a fast paced, action packed, sweat busting way. They came from near and far to experience the fun and fitness Jamei curates. I clocked 14,000 steps,” Cherasard wrote in an Instagram post after the second Sneakers on the Ground event.

The events are designed for ages 12 and up, and organizers encourage dancers to wear sneakers instead of boots and bring their hats and fans.

Registration and price are not listed on the city’s flyer, but all previous events were free for Miramar residents.
