Miramar seeking nominations for Women Making History recognition. What to know
The City of Miramar is now accepting nominations to recognize local women whose leadership, service and achievements have made a lasting impact on the community as part of its Celebrating Miramar Women Making History initiative.
As part of Women’s History Month, which is celebrated in March, Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne is inviting the public to nominate outstanding Miramar women who help shape the city through leadership, service, innovation, advocacy or inspirational accomplishments.
To be eligible, nominees must live, work or own a business in Miramar and demonstrate meaningful contributions in one or more of the following areas:
- community service and volunteerism
- education and youth empowerment
- business, entrepreneurship and innovation
- public service or civic engagement
- arts, culture or creative contributions
- health, wellness or caregiving
- an achievement that uplifts, strengthens or inspires the community
Nominations must include the nominee’s name and contact information, a brief biography describing the nominee’s contributions and why she deserves recognition, and confirmation of her connection to Miramar. The form must include the nominator’s name and contact information.
City officials say the initiative will highlight the accomplishments of Miramar women leaders who continue to inspire others and pave the way for future generations.
The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Feb. 6.
Nominations can be submitted online through the Celebrating Miramar Women Making History nomination form.
