The fastest 150-meter sprint on record was recorded in Miramar on Saturday.

The Ansin Sports Complex hosted the annual Miramar Invitational, which features some of the top runners from around the world, on April 4.

Jamaican star Kishane Thompson set a world record in the men’s 150 meters: 14.92 seconds. That’s the fastest time on a regulated track — Usain Bolt holds the record (14.35 seconds) for the distance on a specially constructed track in 2009 in Manchester, England.

Thompson’s time topped the previous world best of 14.97 seconds set by Jamaican-born British sprinter Linford Christie in 1994.

Tapiwanashe Makarawu of Zimbabwe finished second in 14.96 seconds.

Thompson was a silver medalist in the 100 meters in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

Jamaicans took home several wins at the meet. Ackeem Blake, who is ranked No. 7 in the world in men’s 100 meters, placed first in 9.84 seconds.

Lavanya Williams won the women’s 100 meters in 10.99 seconds, and twins Tia and Tina Clayton finished first and third, respectively, in the women’s 150 meters.

Jamaica’s team won the mixed 4x100 relay in 41.24 seconds. The country’s Olympic gold medal relay runner, Shericka Jackson, finished third in the 300 meters.

American Jamal Britt won the men’s 110-meter hurdles in 13.07 seconds. Fellow American Tate Taylor placed second in the men’s 100 meters and Cameron Crump took second in the long jump.
