Reported robbery leads to discovery of woman shot at Miramar apartment, cops say
A woman was shot and a suspect arrested in an early morning incident Friday that began as a reported robbery in Miramar, police said.
Neither the man nor the woman have been identified, Miramar police spokeswoman Janice McIntosh told the Miramar News on April 24.
Police said they first received calls from neighbors at 2:11 a.m. reporting a possible robbery in a unit at an apartment complex at 10750 N. Preserve Way, off Hiatus Road.
By the time police arrived, the situation had escalated into a shooting.
Responding officers found the wounded woman, and she was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Miramar. Her condition is unknown.
Despite early reports that the victim and shooter may have known each other, the incident does not appear to be domestic-related, McIntosh said.
Police said the unidentified man has been detained and is being questioned by police. No charges have been filed.
Detectives were still at the scene of the shooting as of Friday afternoon.
