7 News and ABC Miami move closer to new Miramar headquarters. Here’s the latest
WSVN 7 News and ABC Miami are moving to Miramar, marking a new chapter for the station.
WSVN’s original studio was built in 1956 in North Bay Village and has aging features that prompted a much-needed upgrade.
WSVN anchors Craig Stevens and Belkys Nerey toured the new 70,000-square-foot building at Miramar Parkway and Red Road on Wednesday, May 27, for the first time since the tilt-up ceremony in December.
They were shown future studios, offices, makeup and locker rooms.
“This is so much more technically advanced than the building they’re in,” James Bry, executive vice president of Sunbeam Properties & Development, told the Miramar News.
Sunbeam is run by the Ansin family, and CEO Andrew Ansin’s father purchased the television company in 1962. Sunbeam Television Corporation operates FOX affiliate Channel 7 and ABC affiliate Channel 18.
Now, Miller Construction is building the Miramar site across the street from Sunbeam’s highly anticipated Miramar Cove, in the Miramar Park of Commerce.
“ Three hundred and fifty employees, when they come here it’s going to be like kids in a candy store,” Bry said.
Beyond the technology, developers are looking forward to a layout with better flow between rooms and wider hallways.
“This new facility gives our teams the space, technology and flexibility to work more efficiently, support our partners, and continue raising the bar for local news in South Florida,” James Ansin, co-president and general manager of Sunbeam Television, said in a news release.
Bry added that the building is also part of Sunbeam’s commitment to Miramar, saying that it will have a “tremendously positive impact.”
Employees should be able to use the building starting in January 2027.
