Looking to escape to a distant land of wonder without traveling too far?

A Miami-based traveling theater company will bring a reimagining of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” to the Susan B. Katz Theatre in Pembroke Pines at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23.

According to the Fantasy Theatre Factory, the production offers a fast-paced and comedic twist on L. Frank Baum’s cult classic, featuring “South Florida flavor, playful surprises, and big-hearted adventure.”

The show follows Dorothy and her cat, Todo, as they make their way through the Land of Oz alongside a slew of familiar characters, including the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion.

This version adds modern touches, such as a Wi-Fi powered Tin Man and a Wicked Witch with an influencer side gig.

Admission is free, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Susan B. Katz Theatre, a 442-seat venue and home to the Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts, is located inside the River of Grass ArtsPark campus.

Fantasy Theatre Factory is a nonprofit organization founded in 1978, operates at the Sandrell Rivers Theater in Miami and has toured throughout Florida and internationally.

The Pembroke Pines performance is part of FTF’s touring run of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” which is scheduled to continue through late July.
