Get to know your neighbors in Miramar during several community events this weekend.

At Miramar Belize Day, you can experience Belizean culture through food and music at City Hall.

World Cup watch parties continue at the Miramar Regional Park amphitheater with the final two quarterfinal-round games.

Plus, the Kiwanis Club of East Pines Miramar invites you to a social event where you can make your own candles.

Here are some of the events happening in Miramar on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11:

Friday

Garden clean up — 8 a.m. to noon

Get your gloves and tools ready to help clean the city’s garden. On Friday and Saturday, helpers will gather to weed the garden, move equipment, take out trash and participate in other general cleanup. High school and middle school students can earn service hours. The garden is located at 7800 Fairway Blvd.

Low impact aerobics — 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Head to the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center for an exercise class that is more accessible. Instead of jumping aerobic movements, this class focuses on moves that are easy on the joints. Attend for free every Friday.

Melt & Mingle — 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The Kiwanis Club of East Pines Miramar is hosting a mixer where attendees can craft and connect with each other at the Alexandra P. Davis Multi-Service Complex. Mix and pour your own candles, eat light bites and start new friendships. Tickets are $50 on Eventbrite.

Saturday

Yoga — 10 to 11 a.m.

Join Mayor Wayne M. Messam for a restorative yoga session at the Miramar Cultural Center Botanical Garden. Whether you are new to yoga or brushing up on the moves, join to stretch and unwind. Bring your own mat and water to each Saturday session, and make sure to fill out the city’s waiver before attending.

Miramar Belize Day — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Celebrate Belizean culture and history with this City Hall event that will feature dance troops, a robotics competition and wine tasting. Miramar’s Sister City, Belize City, is making its mark from July 9-11 by providing government services, and some of them will be available at this celebration. Expect food, drinks, crafts and a Lego building competition.

World Cup watch party — 5 p.m.

FIFA World Cup watch parties at Miramar Regional Park continue with the final two quarterfinal matches. Norway plays England at 5 p.m. and Argentina faces Switzerland at 9 p.m. Admission is free and parking costs $10; tickets are required.

Taste of Haiti: Fritay night food, wine & culture social — 6 to 11 p.m.

The Haitian American Pharmacists Association is hosting its annual fritay night event to give you a taste of Haiti at the Silver Isles Clubhouse. This is a fundraiser that supports HAPA’s community health education, outreach, student support and service initiatives, and tickets are $97. Group rates are also available. Enjoy a Haitian fritay station, live performances, vendors, networking and a DJ, plus a wine tasting included with each ticket.
