This weekend, Miramar has a selection of free events for those with varied interests.

The city’s biggest event, the Aviation Expo, will be open to the public at Miramar Regional Park on Saturday, then over at City Hall, Miramar’s International Fashion Weekend will take over the plaza with a 150-foot runway.

A couple of free classes will be happening, too.

Check out some of the events happening in Miramar from Friday, Dec. 5, to Sunday, Dec. 7:

Friday

Low Impact Aerobics — 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Miramar offers an array of fitness classes during the week, and this one is brought to you for free by Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne and Gold and Silver Fitness LLC. Join the community at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center for an aerobics class that is light on the joints, but still engaging and active. This event happens every Friday for the rest of December.

First Fridays: Network and Chill — 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Hosted by Miramar Mayor Wayne M. Messam and the Economic Development and Housing Department, this event happens on the first Friday of each month. Geared towards Milennials and Gen Z ages 21 to 40, the event features celebrity guest speakers and opportunities to network with fellow entrepreneurs. This months guest speakers are Felecia Hatcher, CEO of Black Ambition, and Pinky Cole, owner of the Slutty Vegan restaurant chain.

Friday Flow at the Rooftop With Jo — 7 to 8 p.m.

This free yoga class is being offered on the rooftop of the parking garage near Epic Residences. Instructor Jo is offering an advanced class, where attendees park on the rooftop and bring their own mat. They can also bring a towel to guard the mat from getting dirty, and of course, water. This class is weather dependent.

International Fashion Social — 6 to 10 p.m.

To kick off Fashion Weekend, the city is hosting the International Fashion Social. Runway shows are planned for Saturday and Sunday, but Friday is reserved for celebrating the event, mingling and enjoying music at City Hall. The city will also be accepting donations for Commissioner Maxwell Chambers’ mobile medical clinic for Jamaica initiative.

Saturday

Aviation Expo — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free Aviation Expo happens each year to engage students and locals in the field of aeronautics. While children will be attending on field trips on Friday, on Saturday it will be open to the public. There will be aviation displays, interactive STEM exhibits, representatives from local universities and other fun activities. Learn more about aviation with professionals in the field.

Miramar International Fashion Weekend — 6 to 10 p.m.

After Friday’s fashion social, International Fashion Weekend begins. On Saturday and Sunday, the roads in front of City Hall will be taken up by a large runway featuring works by international designers. Guests can attend for free or pay $20 to have a reserved seat by the catwalk. Sunday will also feature kids fashions, and will run from 5 to 9 p.m.

Sunday

Sunday Flow at the Rooftop With Kiki — 5 to 6 p.m.

Back at the parking garage rooftop by Epic Residences, join a yoga class that welcomes all levels. Like the Friday class with Jo, it is held outdoors where attendees park on the roof and bring their own mats. This class is free and dependent on the weather.
