This weekend in Miramar: Women’s wellness conference, free classes and BHM movie
Events happening around Miramar this weekend include the city’s free classes and Black History Month-themed gatherings continue through the end of the month.
Plus, a women’s conference is launching at the Miramar Cultural Center.

Friday
Low Impact Aerobics — 9 a.m.
Join the group at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center for a free class. The moves taught by an instructor get your heart rate up with low-impact movements, without putting stress on your joints. Participants of all fitness levels are welcome to join.
Saturday
FREE Yoga Saturdays hosted by Mayor Wayne M. Messam — 10 a.m.
Saturday yoga is an outdoor experience hosted by the mayor at the Miramar Cultural Center Botanical Gardens. The theme this week is “A Time To Heal.” Learn new stretches if you’re a beginner or get some practice in if you’re experienced, and make sure to bring your own mat and water.
‘King Richard’ Movie Screening — 6:30 p.m.
The Miramar Cultural Center is hosting a free movie night for Black History Month. Learn the story of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams and their father, Richard Williams, who pushed them to success. The movie features the girls’ rise from Compton, California, to becoming major champions and Olympic gold medalists with multi-million dollar contracts. Register for free online before attending.
LOUD Women Rising Conference — 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The first LOUD Women Rising conference is happening at the Miramar Cultural Center. Ticket are on sale starting at $197 for this full-day experience from women’s emotional wellness organization LOUD Women Nation. The group is led by singer and motivational speaker Adrianna Foster, and it is a community-focused gathering featuring talks, somatic and mindfulness workshops, connection circles and a motivational concert, some of which will be outdoors. Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne is scheduled to speak.
