This week in Miramar: Business workshops, storytime, trivia night, Zumba & more
There are many opportunities to get involved this week in Miramar.
The city is teaching residents how to do business with its departments and offering two free Zumba classes.
Plus, local businesses are holding salsa classes and weekly trivia.
Here are some of the events happening in Miramar from Monday, April 6, through Thursday, April 9:
Monday
Autism Friendly Emergency Preparedness Workshop — 2 to 4 p.m.
This free workshop is designed for adult neurodivergent indiviuduals, their families and caregivers. To help you be more prepared for emergencies, experts from the National Hurricane Center will come to the City Hall commission chambers to answer questions and explain how emergencies can impact self-regulation.
Set the pace Mondays — 6:45 p.m.
The Miramar Run Club meets weekly in front of City Hall to run together at an easy pace. Even if you’re walking, you are welcome to join this free event, no matter your run level. The run starts at 7 p.m. and lasts 30 minutes. Sign up on RunAdic.
Tuesday
How to do business with the City of Miramar — Tuesday and Wednesday
Meet with Commissioner Yvette Colbourne and economic development staff to learn how to do business with Miramar at four special sessions. Learn about grant opportunities and business support programs. Sessions 1 and 2 on Tuesday will take place at the executive buildings on State Road 7, and sessions 3 and 4 on Wednesday will happen at Bravo Shopping Plaza and Miramar Parkway Plaza. Salsa Classes — Tuesday and Thursday
Salsa Kings offers dance classes in Miramar weekly, and the first class is always free if you sign up on its website. Instructors will guide you through the steps no matter your level of dance experience, making it a welcoming environment.
Rhythms & Rhymes Storytime — 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Is your child ready for preschool? Miramar Branch Library staff members will help little ones with learning and social skills through games and books.
Zumba on the Plaza — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Join Gabriela Jurado for a free high energy outdoor class every Tuesday in City Hall Plaza. Make sure to bring water, and be prepared to sweat as the moves are made for all exercise levels.
Weekly Live Trivia Nights at World of Beer — 7 p.m.
Join the World of Beer on Red Road for a fun trivia night every Tuesday. You can register your team at National Trivia League to officially compete for prizes all year.
Thursday
Ribbon Cutting for KW Partners Realty SW — 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
A Keller Williams partner is coming to Miramar. Join the Miramar Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce, elected officials and area business leaders to welcome them with a free ribbon-cutting ceremony at their grand opening.
Line Dancing — 6 to 8 p.m.
Jammin Jamei is waiting to instruct you on the latest line dances. This two-hour class will help you work up a sweat while moving to popular songs in time with the teacher’s choreography. Join the fun for free at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center.
Zumba Thursdays — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Another Zumba class is being held for free, this time indoors at the Sunset Lakes Community Center. Make sure to fill out the activity release, waiver and indemnification agreement before attending. Expect instructor Gabriela Jurado, lots of dancing and high energy.
