A craft fair, writing workshop and other events in Miramar this weekend

This Saturday, Miramar is offering a slew of free events from student workshops to yoga classes. A local chiropractic center is hosting Black mothers for a maternity discussion, and the library will mount a special craft sale from vendors who hand make goods.

Youth Writer’s Clinic — 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is a free clinic offered at the Miramar Cultural Center classroom, presented by the Louise Bennett-Coverley Heritage Council. High school students in grades nine through 12 interested in writing can learn more about story beats, pacing and crafting scenes in fiction. They will recieve a certificate of participation and a free lunch.

Yoga Saturdays hosted by Mayor Messam — 10 to 11 a.m.

This yoga class is held for free every Saturday at the Miramar Cultural Center botanical garden. Bask in the outdoors and follow the poses from the instructor with the group. Make sure to bring your own mat. The city asks that you fill out the Activity Release, Waiver and Indemnification Agreement in advance.

Saturday Flow @ The Rooftop With V — 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Try out an outdoor yoga flow with Threetwo Ave. This class meets on the roof of the parking garage at Epic Residences. If you don’t have experience, this class works for all levels, and it’s free. Bring a mat and a towel to place under it, along with water.

Black Maternal Health Week: Mommies and Mocktails — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Walker Chiropractic and Wellness Center is hosting a community event just for moms-to-be. Enjoy a mocktail and candid conversation about Black maternal health and the unique risks associated with birth. Hear from doctors, mental health professionals and influential Black women in South Florida, for free with RSVP.

Vendor Craft Sale — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Miramar Branch Library is hosting a craft sale featuring unique, handmade goods by local artisans. Think handmade soap, jewelry, bags and similar items. Meet vendors and enjoy some shopping. There’s no fee to enter.
