There are many opportunities to meet new people and find entertainment this weekend in Miramar.

The Global Africa Symposium highlights the African diaspora across the world.

A free presentation of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” is one of two events at Miramar Branch Library this weekend.

And though it’s already open, Juici Patties in west Miramar is having its grand opening celebration on Saturday.

Here are some of the events happening on Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, in Miramar:

Friday

Low Impact Aerobics — 9 a.m.

This workout class welcomes all with movements that are easy on the joints. Low impact aerobics prioritizes movement without jumping, while still working up a sweat. Join at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center.

Free Ice Cream & World Cup Sticker Swap Event — 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Miguel Maria Team real estate is hosting a swap event where you can meet other soccer fans and trade stickers. Head to Hungtington Park South to get free ice cream and celebrate the World Cup.

Saturday

FREE Yoga Saturdays — 10 to 11 a.m.

Bring your own mat to this free yoga class held at the Miramar Cultural Center botanical garden. Take in the outdoors and follow along with the moves with a group that welcomes all levels.

Car Seat Safety Check — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is a free event from the Thrive Center that offers help with car seats from a certified tech. Learn proper installation and get your questions answered. The event is offered at the Thrive Center for free.

Global Africa Symposium — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Learn more about Africa’s future and the diaspora at the Global Africa Symposium. Discussion topics include trade, innovation, culture and AI. Guest speaker Rohan Marley will take the stage and the city will host a global village with African cuisine all at City Hall. Register for free on Eventbrite.

Adult Coloring — 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Miramar Branch Library hosts a space where you can relax, chat and color with other adults. Create something colorful and meet new people at this free monthly event.

Juici Patties West Miramar Grand Opening Celebration — Noon to 2 p.m.

Authentic Jamaican patties have made their way to west Miramar. The official ribbon cutting for Juici Patties will take place at its new location, 16327 Miramar Parkway. The restaurant promises music, food and celebration.

Fantasy Theatre Factory presents ‘Wizard of Oz’ — 2 to 3 p.m.

Bring the kids out for a fun take on “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” at the Miramar Branch Library. Following a day of crafts and a treasure hunt, Fantasy Theatre Factory will put on a show that delights children and their parents, with laughter and educational moments. Grad Bash Miramar — 5 to 8 p.m.

Kindergarten, fifth grade, eighth grade and high school graduates are invited to celebrate their accomplishments for free with the city at Miramar Regional Park. Enjoy a dance party with food trucks and giveaways.
