Youth voices take stage. What to know about TED talk that’s happening in Miramar
Eager to show how the next generation can shape the community, TEDxMiramar Youth 2025 is coming to the Miramar Cultural Center on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m.
TED, the nonprofit known for its viral speeches by thought leaders and celebrities, has a local arm called TEDx, the “x” standing for independently organized TED event.
Last year’s TEDxMiramar event featured two speakers that were chosen as national TEDx Editor’s Picks. That event was Miramar’s first TEDx event.
“To have not one, but two talks chosen in our debut year is an extraordinary honor and a testament to the quality of our curation, the passion of our speakers, and the strength of our community,” the TEDxMiramar website says.
This year, many of the speakers will range from ages 12 to 18. The event is intended to inspire locals with powerful ideas from young changemakers.
Topics range from technology and science to arts and education. The 2025 theme is “Our Future is Local.”
The independently organized Miramar TED event will “ bring the TED experience to our community sparking conversations that bridge innovation, culture, and connection,” organizers said.
The event will also feature a performance by poet Nicola Daniel-Symonette.
Tickets are $25.54 for children 18 and under and $43.09 for adults.
