Start the new year with a clean slate by joining Miramar’s Adopt-a-Street Cleanup program.

On Saturday, Jan. 17, volunteers will meet at Lakeshore Park to begin their cleanup of several city streets, with the event scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to noon.

“The Adopt-a-Street program is a cooperative clean-up campaign that offers a ‘hands-on’ approach to city beautification through litter removal of designated streets by civic-minded residents, organizations, and businesses,” the city wrote on its website.

Community organizations can adopt up to two miles of road and pick up litter at least four times per year. To join, fill out the registration and waiver forms before you secure your spot on Eventbrite. Registration on Jan. 17 will begin at 8:30 a.m.

“Let’s come together to keep Miramar beautiful by enhancing our neighborhood, protecting our environment and showing community pride thorugh hands-on service,” Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne said in a video posted on Facebook by the city.

Lunch will be provided after the event, and students will be eligible for community service hours.
