Miramar’s performing arts center is also an art museum and botanical garden.

Now, it’s about to get an exterior upgrade with new screens.

At the city commission meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 21, city leaders are expected to approve an award to Koncept Systems for new exterior LED screens at Miramar Cultural Center.

The project cost the city will assign when it approves the measure is $123,073, according to the meeting agenda.

The center is a 53,000-square-foot complex that features a 750-seat theater and an intimate black box performance space.

Art is also displayed in the botanical gardens — the Windows to our World murals. The building has no exterior signs besides the one displaying its name.

Koncept Systems specializes in audiovisual systems. The company works with elaborate lighting systems for clubs, sound systems for concert halls and large LED screens, among other services.

As shown on its Instagram page, Koncept has worked with the Hard Rock in San Juan, Puerto Rico, El Tucan Miami and Stadium Club Orlando.

The city also announced bids for other improvement projects at the Miramar Cultural Center in December. It plans to build a new fence and was accepting bids until Jan. 13.
