Feeling creative? Miramar invites artists to turn traffic boxes into public art
Have you ever seen a mural on the side of a box at a stop light? That artwork is submitted by artists around Miramar for a program called Art in Public Places.
The City of Miramar announced Thursday, March 12, on Instagram that its traffic light boxes mural contest is open, and artists can submit from any type of medium.
The submissions need to be uploaded digitally to the cultural center’s website. Only original, non-AI-generated artwork will be accepted, so make sure to have proof of your process.
The city will pay $200 for each artwork selected, then put it on a lightbox.
The submission deadline is Friday, March 27, and art will be selected on Wednesday, April 1.
Expect to see artwork on boxes between May and August this year. The theme for Art in Public Places this year is “Show Us How You Stay Active And Engaged In Miramar!”
By participating in this competition, artists are releasing their rights to the artwork to the city.
