What’s happening in Miramar this weekend? Here’s your guide to events around town
Get involved this weekend as events spring to life across the City of Miramar.
Whether you’re into getting exercise or indulging in food and wine, Miramar’s venues will be at the center of this weekend’s happenings.
Here are some of the events happening Oct. 24-26 in Miramar:
Friday
Low Impact Aerobics — 9 a.m.
Every Friday, enjoy this free health and wellness activity at the Vernon E. Hargray Center hosted by Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne. Low impact aerobics exercises cause less pressure on joints by involving gentler contact with the ground — less jumping but still sufficient movement to get your heart rate up.
Saturday
Food & Wine Festival — 5 to 10 p.m.
The city’s second annual Food & Wine Festival hosted by Commissioner Maxwell Chambers will take place behind City Hall on the nearby lake. It’s a night of food and beverage vendors, lots of music and a romantic atmosphere. The entry fee is a $10 donation to the United Negro College Fund.
The 2025 HELP Banquet and Awards Night — 7 p.m.
The Health and Education Love Project (HELP) is a nonprofit hosting their fourth annual banquet and awards ceremony at the Sunset Lakes Community Center, with keynote speaker Professor Kisha King. This organization is dedicated to “enhanced access to quality education, vocational training, community engagement and health/wellness services in under-served communities,” in South Florida, the Caribbean and Africa, according to their website. Those who want to contribute to their cause can get a ticket for $60.
5K Hair Peace Hope Run/Walk — 7 a.m.
Hosted by Women of H.O.P.E. (Health Occupations Promoting Education), this annual run/walk at Miramar Regional Park is dedicated to those dealing with mixed-connective tissue disease and other autoimmune diseases that lead to extreme hair loss. The organization has already reached its donation goal. Participants will receive a T-shirt and medal for a registration fee of $35.
Sunday
Purple Hearts Stories: Celebrating Courage, Beauty & Survival — 2 to 7 p.m.
Commissioner Maxwell Chambers is helping celebrate the stories of domestic violence survivors with this fashion show, live performance and award ceremony. Taking place in the Miramar City Hall lobby, this free event has a group of guest speakers including model and entrepreneur Queen Culver, a performance by LiCi Soul and fashion designs by Ruth Louissaint.
