This weekend in Miramar: Easter egg hunts, Olympic track stars, netball & more

Easter weekend is filled with events for the family, including two egg hunts.

Besides celebrating, you can get involved in gatherings such as adult coloring or a pool day for the kids. Here are some of the happenings in Miramar on Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5:

Saturday

YOGA at MCC Botanical Garden — 10 to 11 a.m.

Hosted by Mayor Wayne M. Messam, this free yoga class takes place outdoors in the botanical garden at the Miramar Cultural Center. Make sure to bring water and fill out the the release, waiver and indemnification agreement when signing up on Eventbrite.

Car Seat Safety Check — 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Thrive Center welcomes new parents to this free hands-on class. Certified child passenger safety technicians will guide you on how to properly use and install car seats to make sure your child is riding safely. They will also answer questions and check your car seat.

Easter Egg Bowl — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Miramar High School is hosting Cool Church for a free event that claims to be the “biggest Easter celebration in Miramar.” There will be two helicopter egg drops with 50,000 eggs, a zipline, food and games. Toddlers will have their own area, and there’s a sensory zone for children with special needs. Register before attending.

Easter Eggstravaganza — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bring the kids to this event at Miramar Regional Park’s east field that’s more than just an Easter egg hunt. Expect inflatables, rides, balloon art, a photo op with the Easter bunny and an egg giveaway. Admission and parking are free and there will be games such as the sack race for older children.

April Pool’s Day — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This is no April Fool’s Day. Hit the pool at the Historic Miramar Aquatic Complex for a free event for all ages. The city is adding music, a bounce house and pizza to the fun. Plus, the first 15 people could win free swim classes.

Adult Coloring — 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

On the first Saturday of every month, the Miramar Branch Library hosts free adult coloring. Create art together in a chill space desiged for relaxation.

Miramar Invitational — 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is Miramar’s premiere sporting event at the Ansin Sports Complex and will feature Olympic track athletes. Tickets are still on sale from $28-$46. Teams from Jamaica will compete against U.S. teams for the event’s first-ever relays.

Junior International Netball Classic — Saturday and Sunday

The best youth teams in the U.S. and Caribbean are playing netball this weekend at the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater, in the under 12, 14, 16, 19 and 21 categories. For those watching, there will be activites such as dancing, food trucks, a kids zone and more netball. One-day passes are $33.
